About Kanen Coffee & Our Berkeley Showroom

What brands of espresso machines do you carry?

We carry Lelit, Breville, La Marzocco, Rancilio, Flair, Jura, DeLonghi, Gaggia, Saeco, Rocket Espresso, and ECM. Our Berkeley showroom has working demos of our top models so you can pull a shot before you buy.

Where is Kanen Coffee located?

We are at 2319 4th Street, Berkeley, CA 94710, in the 4th Street shopping district. Showroom hours are Monday through Friday, 12pm to 5pm. Call us at 510-850-4425.

Can I try an espresso machine before buying?

Yes. Our Berkeley showroom has working machines set up for demos. Stop by during business hours (Mon–Fri, 12pm–5pm) or call ahead to schedule time with one of our specialists.

Is there parking near your Berkeley showroom?

Yes. There is free street parking on 4th Street and surrounding streets. The 4th Street shopping district also has a free lot off Hearst Avenue, a short walk from our shop.

Espresso Machine Sales

Do you ship new espresso machines?

Yes. We ship espresso machines, grinders, and accessories nationwide with free shipping on orders over $500. Large commercial machines ship via freight — contact us for a quote.

Which espresso machine is best for beginners?

For beginners who want great espresso without a steep learning curve, we recommend the Breville Bambino Plus or the Fellow Espresso Series 1. Both pull excellent shots with far less daily fuss than a manual machine. If you plan to grow your skills, the Breville Barista Express Impress or Lelit Anna are great step-ups.

What is the difference between a single boiler and a dual boiler espresso machine?

A single boiler machine uses one boiler for both brewing and steaming, so you must wait for it to switch temperature between the two tasks. A dual boiler machine has separate boilers for brewing and steaming, letting you do both simultaneously — ideal if you make milk drinks. Heat exchanger (HX) machines are a middle ground: one boiler with a separate circuit for brew water, allowing near-simultaneous brewing and steaming at a lower price than dual boilers.

What grinder do you recommend with a home espresso machine?

A quality burr grinder is as important as the machine itself. We carry Eureka Mignon grinders — the Silenzio is our most popular for its ultra-quiet operation. For entry-level budgets, the Eureka Mignon Filtro is excellent. We sell grinder and machine bundles in our showroom.

Do you sell refurbished espresso machines?

Yes. We carry professionally restored machines — primarily La Marzocco, ECM, and Pasquini — at reduced prices. Every refurbished machine is fully inspected, serviced, and tested before sale, and includes a 90-day warranty.

Do you buy used espresso machines?

We occasionally purchase used machines on a case-by-case basis, primarily La Marzocco and other high-end brands in good working condition. Contact us with details about your machine for an evaluation.

Espresso Machine Repair

Do you offer espresso machine repair?

Yes. We repair espresso machines from nearly every home and commercial brand — Breville, DeLonghi, Gaggia, Jura, Lelit, La Marzocco, Rancilio, Rocket, Saeco, and more. We accept drop-offs at our Berkeley shop and mail-in repairs from anywhere in the US.

How much does an espresso machine repair cost?

We charge a diagnostic fee to assess the machine; that fee applies toward your repair if you proceed. Most common repairs (pump replacement, thermostat, solenoid valve) range from $350–$450 including parts and labor. Complex overhauls on high-end machines may be higher. We will never start work without your written approval of the quote.

How long does a repair take?

Most repairs are completed in about 4 weeks from receipt of the machine. This covers the diagnostic, parts sourcing, repair, and quality testing. Complex repairs or rare parts can take longer — we always communicate estimated timelines upfront.

Do you offer a warranty on repairs?

Yes. All repairs carry a 90-day warranty on parts and labor. If the same issue recurs within 90 days we fix it at no charge. See our Repair Policy page for full terms.

Can I ship my espresso machine to you for repair?

Yes. We accept mail-in repairs nationwide. Visit our Ship for Repair page for packing instructions, recommended carriers, and how to get started. We recommend insuring the shipment for its replacement value.

How do I book a repair appointment?

Book online at kanencoffee.com/pages/book-appointment. Select drop-off or ship-in, choose a time slot, and pay the diagnostic deposit to hold your spot. We will confirm by email within one business day.

Do you service La Marzocco machines?

Yes. We are an authorized La Marzocco service center. We service the Linea Mini, GS3, Linea Classic, Strada, and commercial models like the GB5 S and Linea PB. We carry genuine La Marzocco parts.

Do you service Jura fully automatic machines?

Yes. We service all Jura fully automatic bean-to-cup machines including the E series, S series, Z series, and X series. Common Jura repairs include brew unit service, pump replacement, and descaling system repair.

Do you service commercial espresso machines?

Yes. We service commercial espresso machines for cafes, offices, and restaurants in the Berkeley and Bay Area. We work on La Marzocco, Rancilio, Victoria Arduino, Nuova Simonelli, and more. Contact us for commercial service inquiries.

Can I bring my espresso machine in for a cleaning or tune-up without a repair?

Yes. We offer preventive maintenance service — descaling, cleaning, gasket replacement, and a full system check. Regular maintenance extends machine life and keeps shot quality consistent. Call or book online to schedule.

Do you offer espresso machine maintenance plans?

Yes. We offer annual maintenance service that includes a full descale, group head cleaning, gasket replacement, and system check. See our Maintenance Schedule page for details and pricing.
